If I am on the job and I am on the phone, you will only be charged for the time if it is directly related to your job, for example ordering materials. I stop the clock for any non-work related occassions, be they personal calls, tea breaks or toilet breaks.

Taking customer calls in the field is part and parcel of running a small business. I minimse the impact this has, and I ask you to remember how nice it is for you to be able to ring me and talk to me instead of leaving a message. Or on the other hand to forgive me for not answering while I am up a ladder with gloves on and a paint brush in one hand and a paint pot in the other.
